Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This policy explains how Joyride AI ("we", "us"), 43-45 Bolton Street, Dublin 1, Ireland, handles personal data when you use joyrideai.online. We are the data controller. Contact: hello@joyrideai.online.

Data we process

  • Route searches: places you type are sent to Google Maps Platform to provide suggestions, directions and places.
  • Location: only if you tap "Use my location", "Explore near me" or "Surprise me" and allow it. It is used in your browser to fill in your start point, to find well-rated places near you for a loop, and to make place suggestions favour places near you. It is sent to Google Maps Platform for those searches and is not stored by us. A route you choose to share or email contains its start point.
  • On-device storage: recent journeys, saved routes, hidden places marked "Not interested" (joyride_hidden_places), "My stops" filter preferences (joyride_stop_prefs), display preferences (such as your units and theme) and your cookie choice are kept in your browser's local storage. You can reset your hidden places and stop filters at any time from My stops in the planner. You can use Joyride AI without an account; signing in with Google is optional.
  • Optional Google Sign-In and cloud sync: if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier (sub), display name, profile photo URL and email address (which is masked in the interface, e.g. a***o@gmail.com) to create an encrypted session cookie and sync your saved routes, recent journeys and display preferences across your devices. You can sign out or permanently delete your synced cloud data at any time using Delete my synced data in the account menu.
  • Language and region: your browser's language and time zone are read in your browser to pick units, date and time formats, example trips and the language of map results. They are not stored by us.
  • Contact messages: the name, email address and message you send through our contact form (or by email) are delivered to our mailbox and used only to reply. To stop spam, the form keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for one hour; it is not linked to your message.
  • Recommended guides: to sort the travel guides for you, this browser keeps a short list of the guides you have read and a summary of the weather on your last planned route, and uses your recent searches and the time of day. All of this stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. Use Reset or Show the usual order above the guides list, or clear this site's data in your browser.
  • Weather on your route: when you plan a route, the approximate location of a point halfway along your route (rounded to about 1 km) is sent to Open-Meteo to get the forecast. We use it to suggest the driest time to go, warn you about sunset and, when rain is likely, pick covered stops. No other details are sent.
