Joyride AI publishes practical guides to walking, cycling, driving and eating well on the way. This page explains how those guides are made, how we keep them accurate and how money is kept separate from what we recommend.

Who writes our guides

Our guides are written by and and . Alberto has lived in Ireland for 13 years and explores the places he writes about on foot, by bike and by car; May writes the family guides from walks with her child; Victor writes about long walks with his three dogs, Renzo, Dona and Pachin, and the landscapes he photographs on the way. Every guide shows its author and the date it was published, and the date it was last updated when it has been revised.

How we research

  • We write from first-hand experience wherever possible, especially for Dublin and the rest of Ireland.
  • Facts such as safety advice, rules and opening information are checked against official or primary sources (for example local councils, transport operators and venue websites). Where a guide relies on outside information, it lists its sources.
  • Route suggestions in the planner come from Google Maps data and the choices you make. We never accept payment to include a place in a route.

How we use AI

The "AI" in Joyride AI is about personalisation. This is exactly what is automated and what is done by people:

  • Route planner (automated): the planner tailors each route to you. It looks for well-rated places along your way that match the vibe you choose (green spaces, sights or food), using Google Maps data, ratings and review counts. It also checks the weather forecast and, when rain is likely, prefers covered stops. It suggests; you decide, and every route opens in Google Maps.
  • Guide recommendations (automated, on your device): the order of the travel guides is personalised in your browser from the time of day, the weather on your last planned route, your recent searches and the guides you have read. Nothing is sent to us. You can switch back to the usual order or reset it above the guides list.
  • Writing (people, with AI proofreading): every guide and route is drafted by its named author from their own experience. We use AI tools only to proofread grammar, spelling and clarity. AI does not write the guides, choose the routes or invent facts, and the author checks and approves every change.
  • Routes on the ground: every ready-made route has been walked or ridden by its author before it was published. Ratings such as crowds or tranquillity are the author's own judgement from doing the route.
  • Maps and route facts: route maps, distances, elevation profiles and counts of benches, toilets and playgrounds are calculated from OpenStreetMap and Open-Meteo data by our own code, not drawn or estimated by AI.

Photos

Guide photos are openly licensed works from Wikimedia Commons (public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA). Each photo is credited under the image with its author, licence and source, and all of them are listed on our photo credits page.

Advertising

  • Ads are shown only on the home page and on editorial pages, never inside the route planner, on product pages or in pop-ups, and they are labelled "Advertisement".
  • We don't publish paid or sponsored articles. If that ever changes, they will be clearly marked as sponsored.

Updates and corrections

We update guides when things change. If you spot a mistake, please tell us through the contact form (choose Correction). We read every report, fix confirmed errors as quickly as we can and show the new "Updated" date on the guide.

Independence

Joyride AI is an independent project based in Dublin, Ireland. We are not affiliated with Google, Amazon, Wikivoyage or Wikimedia, whose services we use or link to.
